This Saturday, Northampton Saints take on Newcastle Falcons, but as part of the first-ever ‘Green Game’ at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, the Club are also partnering with Pledgeball to invite our supporters to help protect where we play.
A full list of Green Game initiatives can be found HERE, but by participating specifically in Northampton’s Pledgeball fixture, supporters can enter a draw to WIN a signed Saints 2023/24 jersey.
So, what is a Pledgeball fixture, and how can you get involved?
Pledgeball gives supporters a platform to take a stand on sustainability. It is a movement that highlights the power that fans can have when they come together with a purpose. For each Pledgeball fixture, such as Saints vs Newcastle Falcons, supporters pledge to reduce their carbon emissions by choosing from a list of actions.
Getting involved is simple. Fans can pledge up until midnight on matchday to take actions that reduce our impact on the planet. Pledging also enters you into a prize draw to win a signed Saints shirt.
Supporters have been pledging since the Green Game was announced back in December, vowing to cut an incredible 90,000 kgCO2e so far – the equivalent of taking 17 cars off the road for good.
Saints’ players and coaches have also taken on a series of pledges, with the likes of Tom Pearson, Sam Graham, Alex Coles, Elliot Millar Mills, Paul Hill, Sam Vesty, and Fraser Dingwall all supporting Northampton’s sustainability efforts.
Ahead of our Green Game, we have teamed up with @pledge_ball in a bid to reduce our carbon footprint by 200,000 kgCO2e 💚

And Saints have now laid down the gauntlet for supporters; the Club is aiming to take the tally north of 200,000 kgCO2e before the conclusion of the Green Game (Saints vs Newcastle Falcons) this weekend.
The potential that Saints supporters have to create and drive change is significant – if a full cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens pledged just to recycle everything they could, it would save the same amount of emissions as taking over 850 cars off the road entirely!
The impact we can have by making these choices not only reduces emissions, but stretches beyond just our own actions through the influence it has on friends, family, and beyond.
“Our reach across our fanbase gives us a fantastic platform, not just to make it easy for our supporters to make climate-positive choices on a matchday, but to encourage them to join us in making changes to their daily habits wherever they are able,” said Julia Chapman, Chief Operating Officer at Northampton Saints.
“The Green Game is not about implementing a series of one-off matchday initiatives to create a singular ‘net zero’ event and then going back to normal; rather it is about asking our supporters to join us in taking collective action for the long term.”

“To this end, the Club are delighted to have partnered with Pledgeball to track our supporters’ commitments and highlight the impact that collective action can have.”
Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, added: “Supporters have the power to make a huge impact. It is very easy to feel powerless in taking action to protect our air, our green spaces, and our way of life – but collectively, the impact of even seemingly small actions is huge and ripples out.
“Saints have been a wonderful Club to work with to date, and their ambition is clear. I am excited to see what can be achieved through this partnership.”
