Australian wing James Ramm joined Northampton Saints ahead of the 2022/23 season, arriving from Super Rugby outfit NSW Waratahs.
Standing at 1.91m and weighing 97 kg, the English‑qualified outside back combines athleticism, aerial prowess, and finishing flair honed through a background in elite gymnastics.
Ramm’s professional journey began at Randwick, where he featured in the Shute Shield and represented Sydney Rays in the NPC before earning a Waratahs contract.
He was selected for the Junior Wallabies in 2018, pulling on the Australia jersey at that year’s World Rugby Under-20s Championship, and the 6’3” flyer also balanced his early playing career with studying for a degree in bio-medical engineering at the University of New South Wales.
Ramm made an immediate impact in Super Rugby for the Waratahs – including scoring on debut in 2020 – and collected 20 appearances before moving to the Premiership.
He marked his Saints debut in the Premiership Rugby Cup in September 2022, crossing twice against London Irish, and broke into league action by November. He notched his first Premiership try away at Gloucester the following month, when he was also named as the Club’s ‘cinch Player of the Month’ – an early nod to his instant impact and consistent performance.
Since then, Ramm has become a key figure on the wing, surpassing 50 Club appearances and accumulating over 100 points by the close of the 2024/25 campaign. He won Saints’ Breakthrough Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards in 2023.
