Five Loughborough Lightning players have been named in Scotland’s Rugby World Cup 2025 squad.
Fly-half Helen Nelson returns for her second World Cup, as vice-captain, as does hooker Elis Martin and prop Anne Young.
Their Lightning team-mates, scrum-half Leia Brebner-Holden and lock/back row Becky Boyd, are also included for their first taste of the competition.
Boyd only made her senior Scotland debut earlier this year and has come through the pathway at Loughborough, making appearances for the University side in BUCS Rugby, progressing through to Cup action with Lightning before establishing herself in the PWR.
Former Lightning captain Rachel Malcolm leads the squad, while Emma Wassell has overcome a benign tumour in her chest discovered in September 2024 to make head coach Bryan Easson’s the 32-player list.
Scotland are in Pool B and kick-off their tournament against Wales on Saturday 23 August at Salford Community Stadium in Manchester. Their other group stage opponents are Fiji and Canada.
