A total of nine Northampton Saints will head into England squad this week, as head coach Steve Borthwick names a 36-man training squad for a three-day camp.
After stellar performances throughout last term, Tom Pearson earns a re-call to Borthwick’s set-up having recovered from the hand injury that had kept him out of Saints’ side since early September.
Pearson is one of four Saints forwards heading to Pennyhill Park to join the squad that assembles today (Sunday 25 October), with fellow back rower Henry Pollock, prop Emmanuel Iyogun and lock Alex Coles – who reached 150 appearances for Northampton on Saturday – also named in the 36-man squad.
There is another re-call for Saints in the backs, with club captain Fraser Dingwall joining back up with England’s set-up after missing out over the summer. Saints’ skipper is joined in the backs division by clubmates winger Tommy Freeman and fly-half Fin Smith – while Northampton also send a pair of scrum-halves into camp in Alex Mitchell and Archie McParland.
The meeting will mark England’s final preparations before the upcoming Nations Championship where welcome Australia to Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Sunday 8 November, before taking on Japan and New Zealand.
