Northampton Saints Plc has today announced its financial results for the year ended 30 June 2026.
- The Club delivered an underlying profit of £0.2m and generated cash from the P&L for the second year running, marking the most commercially successful season for a decade.
- Turnover grew by £3.4m year-on-year, with underlying turnover reaching a record £26.9m.
- Growth was driven by strong underlying commercial performance and on-pitch success.
- Additional income streams, either one-off or not guaranteed each season, also made a material contribution. These included additional home play-off fixtures (including the PREM semi-final), staging Women’s Rugby World Cup fixtures at DPD Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, income from British & Irish Lions selections and profit share from an additional England fixture (vs Australia in November 2025). These non-recurring benefits are important context when considering commercial expectations for future seasons.
- Reported turnover, impacted by the accounting treatment of RFU Academy Funding, was £25.7m.
- Best-ever revenue figures were recorded in ticketing, retail, and hospitality – with strong growth also exhibited in corporate, private and non-rugby events.
- Net assets increased to £23.4m, reinforcing the Club’s strong balance sheet.
- Cash balance improved to £9.0m, up £4.8m year-on-year, reflecting the proceeds from a new share issue and the operating cash generation referenced above.
- The Club continues to strive for sustainable profitability, with strategy focussed on growth in repeatable revenues, cost discipline, delivering unforgettable matchday and event experiences, and continued investment in our venue.
“Just as the team enjoyed a memorable year on the pitch, I am delighted to report that the Club delivered one of its strongest financial performances in recent memory,” said Ella Bevan, Northampton Saints Chairman.
“Underlying turnover reached a record £26.9 million during the year, an increase of £3.4 million on the previous season, despite the challenging economic environment in which all sports organisations continue to operate.
“A combination of sustained record levels of England EPS representation, additional home knockout fixtures, the successful staging of Women’s Rugby World Cup fixtures at DPD Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, and continued growth across our commercial activities all contributed to this outstanding result. Ticketing, hospitality and retail performed particularly strongly, while our corporate events and non-rugby business continued to build momentum.
“I am equally pleased that this growth translated into improved profitability. On an underlying basis, the Club delivered a profit before tax of £0.2 million, representing an improvement of £0.9 million on the previous year. This progress reflects the hard work and commitment of our executive team, staff, players, supporters and commercial partners, and marks another important step towards long-term financial sustainability.
“Our balance sheet strengthened significantly during the year, with net debt reducing by £4.5 million and our cash balance increasing to £9.0 million. Combined with net assets of £23.4 million, this leaves the Club in a robust financial position and provides a strong platform from which to pursue our long-term ambitions.
“While we take great encouragement from these results, we remain focused on the work still to be done. Our priorities remain clear: to continue growing revenues, maintain financial discipline, invest in DPD Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, and deliver exceptional experiences for our supporters, partners and visitors, while ensuring Northampton Saints remain competitive at the highest level.
“The progress made during 2025/26 provides further evidence that this strategy is working, and with a talented leadership team, a clear plan and strong foundations in place, I believe the Club can look to the future with genuine confidence.”
