Another Mitchell score not enough for World Championship crown

England Under-20s failed to defend their title as they fell to the New Zealand U20s 64-17 in the World Rugby U20 Championship final.

Despite a brilliant score from Alex Mitchell and a try assist from debutant James Grayson, England could not halt a huge performance from the Baby Blacks in which the now World Champions score ten tries.

Collecting their runners-up medals, the Saints Academy pair performed well. Mitchell scoring his fourth try in his five games in the competition and Grayson cleverly setting up a great score for Josh Bayliss in the corner with a brilliantly thought through cross-field kick on his first appearance at U20 level.

But New Zealand proved to be just too strong in the final, breaking a winning margin tournament record in the process, England and Mitchell and Grayson collecting the silver medal.
