Anthony Belleau of Northampton Saints

Anthony Belleau named cinch Player of the Month for October

Anthony Belleau has been named cinch Player of the Month for October, after the 29-year-old fly-half impressed Northampton Saints supporters with his performances throughout the month.

The French international featured in all four of Saints’ outings last month as Northampton enjoyed a perfect October, taking all 20 of the Gallagher PREM points available to them as Phil Dowson’s side extended their unbeaten start to the campaign. It all started with a 35-37 victory away at Gloucester before defeating East Midlands rivals Leicester Tigers 32-26 at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.

A second away victory followed at Kingston Park when Newcastle Red Bulls were defeated 19-36, before the first PREM block ended with a 43-31 success against Saracens at cinch Stadium.

In those outings, it was Frenchman Belleau’s 17-point haul at Kingsholm – including the nerveless, match-winning kick in front of the Shed – and two decisive tries off the bench against Leicester, that caught the attentions of Saints supporters.

Their votes saw the fly-half take home this month’s award, with the Club’s most tightly-contested vote seeing Belleau just pip fellow nominees Tom Pearson, Alex Coles, Edoardo Todaro, Rory Hutchinson and Tommy Freeman to the prize.

Throughout the season, cinch will also be offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes.

This month, Robert Sketchley was chosen out of over 800 supporters who voted – with the Belleau supporter winning themself a Saints ball signed by the French fly-half.
