Applications open for Saints in the Schools for 2023/24

Northampton Saints’ key programme for schools in the community, Saints in the Schools (SITS), is now taking applications for the 2023/24 academic year.

Boasting a host of benefits, the programme offers both a Rugby and an Education branch – including coaching sessions, player appearances and reward days, as well as the chance to become an official Partner School.

Using rugby as a tool, Saints’ Community team aims to improve achievement of students across the region while raising standards in delivery of curriculum and extra-curricular PE and sport, with outcomes linked to the national curriculum.

The team also work with school staff to develop confidence and competence in delivering rugby to ensure the sustainability of the sport, while using rugby’s core values to improve behaviour and attitudes to learning.

Last weekend, the Community team welcomed ten of this year’s 20 SITS Partner Schools to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens – awarding each school their signed framed shirt on the pitch during the interval of Saints vs Stade Rochelais to celebrate the schools’ achievements this year.

“We were delighted to welcome so many of our Partner Schools last weekend,” said Community Programmes Manager, Ben Lawrence.

“Seeing so many of the children and teachers we work with come together in that way really puts into perspective how many lives our programmes reach across the region and is a real testament to the team here.

“It’s great to see the link between the Club and schools strengthening through programmes like SITS and engagement like this on matchdays, but that engagement only adds to the work the team already do throughout Northamptonshire and our two hubs in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to spread the game of rugby.

“And it's very pleasing that we’ve seen lots of our Partner Schools already sign up for SITS again for 2023/24 and beyond, it’s great to see students across the region keeping their regular access to Northampton Saints.”
