Northampton Saints supporters travelling to the East Midlands Derby this May will have the option to sit together in a dedicated Away Supporter Zone.
As part of a wider PREM Rugby trial aimed at creating bigger matchday atmospheres, the option will be available for Saints’ Round 15 clash away at Leicester Tigers on Saturday 9 May (3.05pm kick‑off) – one of the standout fixtures of the Gallagher PREM run‑in and a match that always delivers intensity on and off the pitch.
Away Supporter Zones are designed to bring travelling supporters together by choice, helping to build noise, colour and atmosphere in some of the sport’s biggest fixtures – while remaining entirely optional. Saints fans will still be free to purchase tickets anywhere in the stadium, as they always have.
With Saints and Tigers currently both in the upper reaches of the table, and the match broadcast live on TNT Sports and ITV4, the scene is set for another fiercely‑contested derby – and an electric environment for players, supporters and viewers alike.
“East Midlands Derbies are always special occasions, and the atmosphere inside the stadium plays a huge part in what makes these fixtures so compelling,” said Julia Chapman, Chief Executive of Northampton Saints.
“We’re excited to be involved for the first time in a fixture with an Away Supporter Zone, which gives our travelling fans the option to come together and help ramp up the noise and energy on the day.
“Supporters are, of course, still free to sit wherever they choose, and we know many will want to mix with Leicester’s fans as they always do. But we’ve had clear feedback from our supporters that better opportunities to congregate together on away days would be welcomed.

Rob Calder, Chief Growth Officer at PREM Rugby, added: “Last season’s trial gave us valuable insight into how away supporter zones can elevate the matchday experience and improve the on-screen product for broadcast audiences.
“We want to create bigger atmospheres, fuel the passion of rivalries and give fans an even more memorable experience when they come to Gallagher PREM matches.
“The enthusiasm from all clubs involved is fantastic and we’re excited to see the energy that their supporters bring to these key fixtures as the play-off race heats up.”
