BATH 19 SAINTS 19 Mallinder praises Myler composure

After seeing George Ford kick Bath into a 19-16 lead with three minutes to play, Myler took his own opportunity 90 seconds later to make the scores even after Anthony Perenise was yellow carded for a tip tackle.

Myler had earlier nailed a touchline conversion after Jamie Elliott's try, and Mallinder said that they were crucial points.

"It was a big kick that he kicked well," he said. "He kicked one from the touchline as well after having a hand in the try, which was a good kick as well. But there were two good kickers out there and young George Ford played well as well."

Ford scored all of Bath's points, his twinkle toes taking him to the try line early in the second half. And had a last-gasp drop goal sailed between the uprights instead of just wide the youngster would have been a hero.

But the drama did not end there. Assistant referee Ashley Rowden had his flag waved for an apparent late shoulder barge from Courtney Lawes. Man in the middle Matt Carley checked what had happened on the screen, only to rule that there was nothing untoward and that the game was over.

When the dust had settled the two points took the Saints one step closer to a home Aviva Premiership semi-final. But the talking points from those final few seconds will last long into the weekend.

"[The finale] was up there," he added. "It was a big game for both sides. We wanted the win but got a draw, and two points are very important. It takes us on and leaves us in a good position.

"It was a very tight game that ebbed and flowed. Bath have a good pack, they've showed that all season, and they put us under pressure. We've got areas that we need to work on, and while we defended pretty well we conceded some silly penalties.

"So there are things to work on, but it's tough coming down here on a Friday night and we'll take the draw."
