Boyd nominated for Premiership Director of Rugby of the Season

Chris Boyd has been nominated for this year’s London Pride Director of Rugby of the Season – with the Northampton Saints boss named among the league’s leading coaches on the five-man shortlist.

The quintet includes a former winner in Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall and has representation from Gallagher Premiership Rugby’s top five. Last season's winner was Pat Lam.

The 2021-22 winner will be announced on Tuesday, June 7 at the 2022 Premiership Rugby Awards, presented by Gallagher.
The full London Pride Director of Rugby of the Season shortlist is:

  • Chris Boyd (Northampton Saints)
  • George Skivington (Gloucester Rugby)
  • Mark McCall (Saracens)
  • Steve Borthwick (Leicester Tigers)
  • Tabai Matson (Harlequins)

Phil Winstanley, the Rugby Director at Premiership Rugby said: “The coaching strength of Premiership Rugby is shown in his stellar list of world-class coaches, any of whom could carry off the main prize and be named London Pride Director of Rugby of the Season.

“Gallagher Premiership Rugby has never been more compelling and unmissable than this season with more than six tries a match and almost 50% of matches finishing within seven points. Those statistics and the current philosophy of the Premiership clubs is driven by the coaches on this list and those impressive figures who didn’t make it. I look forward to seeing which of the list is named London Pride Director of Rugby of the Season on Tuesday.”

The shortlist and winner was voted for by a panel of media professionals.

The judges were: Ali Eykyn (BT Sport), Sonja McLaughlan (BBC/BT Sport), Stephen Jones (Sunday Times), Nick Mullins (BT Sport), Craig Swayne (Ball Carrier). Hugh Godwin (i), Alex Lowe (The Times), Sarah Mockford (Rugby World), Dave Rogers (Getty Images), Chris Jones (5 Live). The panel was chaired by Paul Morgan, Premiership Rugby's Communications Director.

In the next few days, in addition to London Pride Director of Rugby of the Season we will announce the shortlists for:
