Brookes keen to keep building

While last Saturday’s defeat of Exeter proved a huge relief for all inside Franklin’s Gardens, Kieran Brookes says there’s no time for the Saints to rest on their laurels.

The performance, as has often been the case in 2016/17, was up to scratch, but this time the men in black, green and gold showed the clinical edge that had perhaps been lacking in previous weeks.

“We’d had a couple of disappointing results and I think if we’d have got something out of Saracens or Wasps it would have been a completely different feeling going into last weekend,” Brookes says in this week’s SaintsTV Show.

“Because we’d lost those though it was a big pressure game and thankfully we won – we’re hoping to take that into this weekend.”

While the confidence of heading to the Stoop off the back of a win cannot be underestimated, the prop says that the side will also draw on last year’s remarkable win at Quins as inspiration.

“We’ve talked a lot about when we played Quins last year. We played pretty well and so did they, but it really came down to the character that we showed in the last five minutes. If we can take that down there with a bit of form, we know we’ve got a chance of coming away with the win.”

The game, which kicks off at 3pm, is being shown live on BT Sport, while you can also follow the action on the go at www.saintslive.co.uk.
