CAMB UNI 12 WAND 71 Eves relishing more Mondays

Following an impressive try scoring display in the Wanderers’ season opening win, Luke Eves is keen to show what he can do in the black, green and gold when the Aviva ‘A’ League begins next month.

The centre provided a powerful punch in a well-balanced backline at Grange Road and says that such games are the perfect chance for players to stake their claim for first team honours.

“It’s always good to get that game time to impress,” he told SaintsTV. “It’s hard to do that in training so when you get the opportunities in the Wanderers games you’ve really got to put your best foot forward.

“It was great to get that full 80 minutes under my belt and a lot of boys have put a marker down tonight.”

That was certainly the case, and despite the free scoring nature of the victory, Eves was pleased with the attacking discipline of a young Wanderers side.

“Cambridge gave it a really good go, but I thought we were clinical tonight. It was a really professional performance.

“It could have turned into a game of sevens at some points but we stuck to our structures and came away with some really good tries and a great win. Hopefully we can push onto the next game with the same intensity and attitude.”

The Wandies’ opening Aviva ‘A’ League fixture is at Franklin’s Gardens on November 23rd, Newcastle the visitors. Entry, as always, will be FREE to Season Ticket Holders!
