Cambridge RUFC played host to Saints’ latest Developing Player Programme (DPP) festival on Sunday.

East Northants, Northants Alliance, Hunts & Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Bedfordshire came together for a full day of rugby with each centre represented at Under-13s, Under-14s and Under-15s.

Yesterday’s festival was the first time that these six centres had been brought together and the first time that the Saints’ DPP had visited Cambridge.

Throughout the day, the core values of rugby shone through and it was an enjoyable afternoon for all players, coaches and parents.

Ross Stewart, EPDG Manager at Saints, was delighted with the success of yesterday’s event: “There’s approximately 500 kids on show today which is a massive chunk of our playing base and it shows the strength that we’ve got within our area.

“First and foremost, it’s an opportunity for the kids to play some good rugby, enjoy themselves, and play with different players. It’s also a clear pathway for them to progress along and an opportunity to be seen by the Saints.

“Everyone at Saints would like to say a big thank you to Cambridge RUFC for hosting the event. We would also like to thank all the clubs, schools, coaches and parents for their support of Saints’ DPP.”
