Champions Cup rugby confirmed for 2016/17

The Saints’ final day Aviva Premiership win at Gloucester has confirmed European Rugby Champions Cup rugby at Franklin’s Gardens next season.

The team headed to Kingsholm knowing that any slip-up could have meant a place outside the Aviva Premiership’s top six and nerves next weekend during Harlequins’ European Rugby Challenge Cup final against Montpellier.

But it will be Quins needing the win to guarantee a place among the continent’s elite clubs, as their home demolition by Exeter Chiefs, combined with Sale’s win at Newcastle, pushed Conor O’Shea’s men into seventh place in the table.

Meanwhile at Gloucester things did look nervy at times for Lee Dickson’s team, not least when the Cherry and Whites crossed for a quick-fire double in the first half to give themselves a 20-8 lead.

However George North’s timely tries either side of half-time were consolidated by Stephen Myler’s accuracy from the tee, and when added to George Pisi’s earlier score combined to see Saints home 28-20.

So Europe’s top clubs will be heading back to the East Midlands next term, and you can guarantee your place at all the big matches with a 2016/17 Season Ticket. Places remain available in many areas of the stadium, and remember to book before May 31st, because after that date prices increase by £20!
