The shortlist has been announced for the Steffans Player of the Month for January, with a trio of outstanding performers up for the supporters’ vote.
The New Year started with a continuation of the Saints’ resurgent form, wins over Gloucester and Bristol in the Aviva Premiership backed up by a maximum against Castres in Europe.
First up and making it back to back nominations is JJ Hanrahan, who started all three victories and scored the bonus point try against Bristol. The Irishman also caught the eye in an outstanding attacking effort from the Saints in Montpellier a fortnight ago.
Teimana Harrison, meanwhile, also started all four games for which he was available, turning in a string of outstanding ball carrying displays. It was in the Champions Cup that he really came to life, scoring twice against Castres before making a huge 15 carries and 11 tackles away to Montpellier.
Finally, Harrison’s England teammate Courtney Lawes also headed off for the Six Nations right on form. In addition to his usual tireless work in the lineout and in defence, the second row has once again added destructive ball carrying to his arsenal to take his side over the gainline time and again.
