Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for April is open, with supporters able to choose the Saints they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch across the month.
The competition will remain open until Tuesday 21 May, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.
Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For April, one lucky winner will receive a personalised signed Saints shirt from the winner of this month’s vote!
Northampton picked up three wins from their four games in April, with victories over Munster (24–14) and Vodacom Bulls (59–22) in the Investec Champions Cup, along with a Derby Day success at home to Leicester Tigers (40–17). Their only defeat of the month came at Twickenham against Harlequins when they came out on the wrong side of a 41–32 scoreline.
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected four nominees for the monthly award; George Hendy, Alex Moon, James Ramm and Ollie Sleightholme.
Hendy had an impressive month on Northampton’s wing, scoring three tries across the four matches, including a crucial brace of scores as Saints overcame Munster in the Champions Cup Round of 16. His other five-pointer came against Tigers at the back end of the month in a 40-17 victory for the men in Black, Green and Gold.
Lock Moon started in three of Saints’ four games in the month of April and was impressive in all three matches. The 27-year-old averaged 11 tackles per game, as well as helping Saints to win 100% of their scrums against Munster, Vodacom Bulls, and Tigers.
Having returned from injury in late March, Ramm had a barnstorming April, crossing the whitewash on four occasions as he picked up scores against both Munster and Harlequins, along with a brace against Bulls. The outside-back also topped the metres-made chart against Munster, making 127 metres in that game alone.
Another Saint on the score sheet last month was prolific winger Sleightholme. Having picked up both the Gallagher Player of the Month and cinch player of the month in March, Sleightholme continued his form into April, as he crossed the try line on another two occasions as well as beating 13 defenders across the three games.
