Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for December is now open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch across the month.
The competition will remain open for one week before the winning player is announced by Northampton Saints and cinch, with voting closing on Monday 15 January.
Throughout the season, cinch will also be offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For December, one lucky winner will receive a personalised signed Saints shirt from the winner of this month’s vote!
Northampton closed out the month and the year at the top of the Gallagher Premiership table and the top of their Investec Champions Cup pool having won all five clashes in December – downing Saracens, Glasgow Warriors, RC Toulon, Gloucester Rugby and Sale Sharks across the month.
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected four nominees for the monthly gong; Tommy Freeman, George Furbank, Courtney Lawes and Tom Pearson.
Freeman played every minute of Saints’ clashes in December, making some 41 carries and 43 tackles across the month while a brace of tries against Glasgow earned him the Player of the Match medal for his efforts.
Furbank also featured for 80 minutes in all of Northampton’s December matches and claimed a Player of the Match award for himself against Sale, scoring three tries across the month including a brace against Toulon.
Back rower Lawes started four of Saints’ five fixtures across the month, making an impressive 36 carries, 42 tackles and hitting 52 attacking rucks – while also claiming two Player of the Match awards, against both Saracens and Toulon, while also earning a nomination for the Gallagher Premiership Player of the Month.
Fellow back rower Pearson also enjoyed an impressive month, making 62 tackles and hitting 73 attacking rucks in his five matches in Black, Green and Gold.
