Voting for the first cinch Player of the Month of the season is now open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch in September as Northampton played their first four matches.
The competition will remain open for one week before the winning player is announced by Northampton Saints and cinch, with voting closing at 11.59pm on Wednesday 11 October.
Throughout the season, cinch will also be offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For September, one lucky winner will receive a personalised signed Saints shirt from the winner of this month’s vote.
Northampton started their season in the Premiership Rugby Cup, facing Ealing Trailfinders, Cambridge Rugby, Bristol Bears and Bath Rugby across the first four rounds of the tournament – securing a 55-5 win over Cambridge and a dramatic 43-42 win over Bath Rugby on home soil.
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected five nominees for the monthly gong; Sam Graham, George Hendy, Henry Pollock, Tom Seabrook and Angus Scott-Young.
Graham captained Saints in the first round of the Cup competition before returning to Saints’ side for the trip to Bristol Bears; and the back rower led by example, making 13 carries and 25 tackles across the two outings.
Fullback Hendy started Northampton’s first three matches of the season, scoring a try apiece against Cambridge and Bristol. The 20-year-old impressed in attack hitting some 24 attacking rucks, but also dominated in defence making seven turnovers across the three games.
Dynamic back rower Pollock kicked his season off strongly, making an impressive 41 tackles and 24 carries while hitting some 36 attacking rucks and 22 defensive rucks to boot.
Summer signing Tom Seabrook has proved to be a prolific try-scorer, having already crossed the whitewash three times in his three appearances to date – with a diving finish at Bears a memorable highlight for the winger.
Scott-Young featured twice for Saints in September, impressing on both side of the ball against Bristol and Bath as he made some 25 carries and 35 tackles across the two games.
