Clark carries home Steffans Player of the Month in October

In what was the closest vote in the history of the Player of the Month award, Clark pipped Samoan wing Ken Pisi by just five votes.

But it is the total number of votes that counts, not the winning margin, and it is the flanker who will take home the TW Steel watch!

The award is reward for a month in which Clark was one of the Saints’ standout performers, with a tackle success percentage well into the 90s, double-digit ball carries and lineout catches and winning regular turnovers at the breakdown. His form also received recognition from the England coaches, Clark being called into the national squad for the Autumn Internationals.

October’s TW Steel Clubman of the Month is senior conditioning coach Tom Bullough, who has spent considerably amounts of time out of hours in helping re-model the performance department’s offices, work which will improve the effectiveness of the work of an important part of the backroom team at Franklin’s Gardens.

“I’m delighted for Calum, who has been one of our most consistent and effective players this season,” said director of rugby Jim Mallinder. “Week in, week out, he never gives anything less than his best, and it is good to see that this has been recognised by our supporters.

“The Clubman of the Month is all about rewarding things which happen away from the public eye, which is why we had no hesitation in awarding it this month to Tom Bullough. The performance team has grown over the past couple of years, and he put in a lot of time out of hours to help with the changes that have been made in the offices, getting his hands dirty in the process!

“Going forward it is important that the performance team is able to work effectively, and Tom’s commitment means that this has happened more quickly than it would otherwise have done.”
