Deepings crowned Crabbie's Touch Series winners

Though Saints took to the Franklin's turf for the first time this season yesterday, they were not the only ones playing rugby at the Gardens with the Crabbie's Touch Series culminating in the Finals Day on the back pitches yesterday too.

With 16 teams having already played in three regional tournaments over the past months, four sides met at the Gardens to battle it out for the title. Playing each other all once, in a round robin-style tournament, Deepings RFC came out victorious, winning all three of their games to take the title.

Northampton COYS finished as runners-up after bagging two wins over the day with Bedford Touch and Orton Ospreys also featuring in the fast-paced tournament.

Thanks to all the teams, players, referees and venues who helped make this inaugural Crabbie's Touch Series successful. More details about the 2018 tournament will be announced in due course.

Touch is one of the fastest growing codes of rugby, with tens of thousands of men and women playing regularly. To find a team near you head to www.englandtouch.org.uk
