Derby day frustration a real disappointment for Saints says Tuala

After a tough loss to local rivals Leicester Tigers in the closing minutes of yesterday’s game, Saints move down into seventh position in the Aviva Premiership table with four games left of the regular season.

Despite playing some good rugby, Saints on form full back Ahsee Tuala said that the result was a hugely disappointing on for the team.

“The boys are obviously disappointed with the result,” Tuala told SaintsTV after the game.

“Derbies mean a lot to both teams and because of where we were sitting on the table it meant even more. We’re disappointed with the result but we played some good rugby out there.

“They were smart around the scrums and worked to slow the game down, getting penalties from the scrum so credit to them for doing that, it just meant we couldn’t get any tempo into the game.

“We were quite positive coming into half time. If we had scored that try in the corner with Daisy then things could have been different but I guess we were going into half time with that lead the boys were positive and very keen and firing to come out.

“Maybe we were just a little bit impatient at times. Maybe we didn’t need to force the pass and go wide straight away, we could have trucked it in and kept it in tight a bit more.”

But with just four games of the regular season left, Tuala says that the focus turns to a top six finish and securing European Champions Cup rugby for next season.

“We’ve got four tough games left now and we need to take it a game at a time, get as many points as we can and make sure we stay in that top six.”
