Disciplinary update: David Ribbans

Northampton Saints lock David Ribbans had his case heard on papers yesterday by Ian Unsworth QC sitting as Sole Judicial Officer.

Ribbans was shown a red card by referee Craig Maxwell-Keys in the 14th minute of the match between Northampton Saints and Exeter Chiefs on Sunday 6 June 2021 – this was for dangerous tackling, contrary to World Rugby Law 9.13.

The player accepted the charge and was given a three-week suspension by Unsworth. Ribbans will miss this weekend’s Gallagher Premiership clash against Bath as well as two of Northampton‘s pre-season matches, and is free to play again 14 September 2021.
