England name Saints trio in summer training squad

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

England have today named a 37-man training squad for a three-day camp in Teddington, including Saints trio Dylan Hartley, Harry Mallinder and Piers Francis.

Beginning on Saturday (August 5th), the camp will see the British and Irish Lions return to England duties for the first time as well as bring them together with the nine players who made their England debuts this summer in Argentina.

Saints skipper Hartley is heading for the camp with new boy Francis, who made his debut and scored his first try in Argentina this summer, as well as Mallinder who also travelled to Argentina with England in June.

The camp will involve medical checkups, functional and rugby training, planning meetings and individual reviews as England begin their preparations for the upcoming Old Mutual Wealth Series, where England face Argentina, Australia and Samoa in November.

Seven of the players that travelled with the British and Irish Lions this summer will join the camp for one day while some others, including Saints' Courtney Lawes, have opted to stay on their summer break.
