Fin Smith has been named cinch Player of the Month for April, after seeing off his fellow nominees to top the voting as his appearances throughout the month impressed Northampton Saints supporters.
The fly-half was at the heart of some of Saints’ most dramatic moments during the fourth month of the year. He produced the unforgettable late try at Sandy Park to defeat Exeter Chiefs (28-35) and also struck over the match-winning penalty against Bath (41-38) – a match in which he also adding to his try tally for the season. He also contributed 16 points in the Investec Champions Cup quarter-final loss to Bath (43-41).
It’ll be no surprise to Saints supporters that Smith has rolled up his sleeves in defence, making 39 successful tackles – including an epic 19 against Exeter Chiefs. Smith also made 116 metres from 42 carries across the month too.
The voting went right down to the wire as Smith just emerged as the winner, pipping Josh Kemeny, Ed Prowse and Tommy Freeman to the award.
Throughout the season, cinch will also be offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes.
This month, Mark Matthews was chosen out of nearly 500 supporters who voted – winning a Saints ball signed by this month’s winner, Fin Smith.
