Franklin’s Gardens to host England under-20s for second straight year

Northampton Saints can confirm that England under-20s will return to Franklin’s Gardens again in 2020, as the Red Rose lock horns with Ireland on Friday 21 February.

England faced Scotland earlier this year at the home of Northampton Saints, defeating their north-of-the-border rivals 45-7 in front of a bumper east midlands crowd.

And 2020 will see the Red Rose return once more to play Ireland in their third match of the Under-20s Six Nations, after they face both France and Scotland away from home.

“We are once again proud to be hosting the future stars of the game.”

Mark Darbon, chief executive

Tickets are available to purchase NOW for the clash from £10 for Adults and £5 for Juniors.

“After the success of last year's fixture, in which over 5000 supporters saw England defeat Scotland, we are once again proud to be hosting the future stars of the game,” said Northampton Saints chief executive Mark Darbon.

“We all know about the fierce rivalry between the two nations and followers of U20s rugby will know that Ireland are the Grand Slam champions beating England in both the Six Nations and World Rugby U20 Championship last season so I'm sure England will be looking to set the record straight.

“Those that attended last year were treated to eight tries and an exciting contest and we look forward to making this a memorable occasion under the lights here at Franklin's Gardens.”

After playing at Franklin’s Gardens, England then take on Wales at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium before rounding off their campaign away to Italy – with the side looking for their first Under-20s Six Nations Championship success since 2017.

RFU head of professional rugby Nigel Melville added: “It’s always important that we put our aspiring England players into the right environment to play international rugby, and Franklin’s Gardens is a top-class traditional home venue.

“Northampton has a huge supporter base locally for the game, and I know they will all be interested in seeing the next generation of England players in action.

“They will expect to see a high standard of rugby and I hope the players will rise to the challenge in that type of environment, which will again be important for their development as future internationals.”

Franklin’s Gardens will host England Under-20s’ third clash of the 2020 Six Nations against Ireland on Friday 21 February. Tickets are available now and can be purchased by CLICKING HERE.
