Friday Night Lights for Saints at Sale in round 17

Coming into round 18 of the Aviva Premiership off the back of an important win last weekend at home to Worcester Warriors, Saints travel to Sale Sharks on Friday night with the hopes of continuing their push to consolidate their place in the top six.

With the last eight fixtures between Sale and Saints going the way of the home side, most recently with Saints’ 24-5 win at Franklin’s Gardens earlier this season, Saints’ must push their hosts hard to replicate the winning ways of 2012, in Premiership Rugby, and 2014, in the quarter final of the European Challenge Cup.

This weekend’s hosts’ five game winning run in all competitions was ended last weekend by Saracens at Allianz Park as the home side held out for a 29-18 win.

While suffering two disappointing away losses to Bath and Newcastle in recent weeks, Saints’ win over Worcester gave the men in black, green and gold a much needed morale boost and shot them back up into the top six. A win for Saints on Friday night would help them close the gap to the top five and put them in a solid position with regards to securing European Champions Cup rugby next season.
