JP Morgan Sevens "a chance to shine", says Hopley

The JP Morgan Premiership Sevens Series returns to Franklin's Gardens for the first time in two years on Friday, August 2nd, with the Saints going head-to-head with Leicester, Sale and Newcastle for the right to play in the Series finals in Bath the following week.

Although pre-season preparations are already well underway, next week's Sevens will be the first chance for players to get some competitive rugby under their belt, with Hopley saying that it will be "a chance to shine".

"The JP Morgan Sevens has been a cracking way to start the season over the past few years," he said. "All the lads have been putting in plenty of hard work during the pre-season, and the Sevens gives them an opportunity to get some game time and put a marker down for the rest of the season.

"It's also a chance for the lads to shine and to put their hands up for selection in the World Club Sevens at Twickenham in a couple of weeks' time. We've also brought in former England Sevens international Simon Hunt to help coach the side, so the lads who play will learn a lot.

"We've had some good nights of Sevens at Franklin's Gardens, and if the weather holds then it'll be another good night a week on Friday."
