Lawes and Wood start Rugby World Cup opener

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Both Lawes and Wood appear in their second World Cups, having played in New Zealand in 2011, while Brookes is in line for a tournament debut should he come off the bench at Twickenham.

Head coach Stuart Lancaster has named an unchanged starting team from the one that beat Ireland in the final warm-up game and says the team are raring to go.

"The squad is massively excited to start the World Cup. Everyone has worked incredibly hard over the last three months and we are ready.

"Friday will be a great occasion for the whole squad and for the country. We are in a unique position to be playing in a World Cup on home soil and to have the support of a nation behind the team.  That support will be a massive factor and we don't underestimate its importance.”

The game is an 8pm kick off and is live on ITV1 and ITV1 HD.
