Frustration was the word of the day as Saints suffered a very tight loss to Sale at the AJ Bell yesterday but now all focus turns to returning to Franklin's Gardens on Friday to face Newcastle Falcons.
Jim Mallinder said that the decisions that went against Saints were very hard to take but that he was very pleased with the improvements made in performance from a young Saints side in Salford.
"It was a lot better performance than last week," Mallinder told Saints TV after the game yesterday.
"Some of the young lads coming in were very, very good and the older lads as well, with some of the pack playing for 80 minutes. So we're pleased that it was a much better performance but clearly disappointed to lose again.
"There are massive frustrations but we've got to put those to one side and get ready for next week. It's going to be a tough game but we're at home.
"They'll have some international players back but so will we, it's exciting to get the chance to build on tonight's performance.
"We've only got a short turn around but hopefully the fans will be loud and really get behind the team and hopefully we'll get a really good win."
