Manoa scores in Eagles draw

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Manoa's effort was one of three tries scored by the Eagles in a topsy-turvy Rugby World Cup qualifier in Montevideo, a game which also included fellow Saint Cam Dolan at number eight

After trailing 19-6 to Uruguay at one stage and 19-13 at half-time the USA battled back to lead 27-22 late in the contest. But a yellow card shown to prop Nick Wallace handed the initiative back to Uruguay, who with time running out crossed for a try which tied things up at 27-all.

So there is everything to play for going into the second leg in Atlanta this coming Saturday. Whoever wins that game will book themselves a place in Pool 2 alongside South Africa, Scotland and Samoa, while the loser will enter the repechage play-off process.

There were Saints in action at multiple venues on Saturday, with Adam Parkins, Tom Warren and Ryan Glynn all coming off the bench in Moseley's narrow 20-23 Championship home loss to London Scottish. And Harry Betts also fell the wrong side of a close result in Chinnor's 25-27 reverse at Southend in National League 2 South.
