Mascot auction raises thousands for Royal British Legion

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Always a poignant occasion, the Remembrance ceremony saw wreaths laid on the Franklin's Gardens war memorial while a verse was read from Laurence Binyon's poem, 'For The Fallen' and a crowd of just under 13,000 stood to pay their respects to those who have given their lives for their country.

This year's wreaths were laid by Saints president Keith Barwell, Major David Williams (Northamptonshire branch, Army Benevolent Fund), Barry Forrestal (Saints Supporters Club) and Major-General TN Tyler from the British Army.

Poppy sellers were out in force, but there was an extra special donation which came from the club. This year, for the first time, all 23 mascot places were auctioned off to raise funds for the Royal British Legion, with nearly £2,500 pledged in total.

The Saints management thanks everyone who placed a bid in the auction for their support of what is a tremendous cause.
