Sam Matavesi and Temo Mayanavanua have both been named in Fiji’s side for their upcoming clash against Japan, with the duo of Northampton Saints forwards both starting the match on Saturday.
The Fiji Water Flying Fijians’ play their third match of the summer at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground in Japan this weekend, having won their first two clashes of the summer against Tonga (36 – 20) and Samoa (33 – 19) last month.
And hooker Matavesi – who scored in the side’s summer opener against Tonga – will add to his 23 international caps to date, with Saints’ summer signing Mayanavanua set to earn his eleventh cap in Japan.

Fiji head coach Simon Raiwalui said: “We have had a quick turnaround following our match against Samoa last weekend. As usual, we are still in the preparation phase for Rugby World Cup hence we are testing and rotating our players at certain positions.
“We know Japan is a good team, plays very high tempo of the game and very organized so we are just looking forward to the challenge.”
