The 26-year-old hooker started all four of the Saints’ matches in April, including the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter final and semi-final victories. The month represented McMillan’s longest run of starts in the Saints’ first team in his time at the club, and his performances lived up to expectations, winning 98 percent of his lineouts, making 94 percent of his attempted tackles and carrying the ball 17 times.
In being named the Player of the Month, McMillan receives a TW Steel watch from Steffans Northampton.
The club has also named Claire Jones, Adedapo Segun and Andy Taylor as the joint recipients of the TW Steel Clubman of the Month award.
The trio have provided photography to the Saints for a number of years on a voluntary basis, ensuring that supporters have high quality pictures of Academy, Wanderers and first team matches throughout the season.
Jones has not missed a game all season – home or away – while Segun has also covered England age group matches, including in Scotland and Poland, and Taylor has photographed a wide range of the club’s non-rugby events.
Head of communications Chris Wearmouth says that the trio were worthy recipients of the TW Steel Clubman of the Month award.
“We are massively indebted to Claire, Ade and Andy, whose commitment has meant that we have been able to cover all levels of the club more than ever before,” he said. “Despite this season having some horrific weather conditions Claire has not missed a match, with all her photo sales also going to support Restart, the Rugby Players’ Association charity.
“Meanwhile Andy – often at late notice – has been on hand for a number of off-field events such as our Nandos and Cineworld charity nights and Wanderers matches. And Ade has travelled the length and breadth of the country and beyond to photograph our Academy teams and the Academy players when they have played for England age group teams.
“They all deserve recognition for their effort and dedication.”
