More autumn action for Saints internationals

George North was first up on Friday night, featuring in Wales’ penultimate autumn Test against Tonga. Despite a frustrating second half in Cardiff, in which the Saints wing saw a try chalked off by the TMO for obstruction, it was a comfortable 17-7 triumph ahead of their series ending meeting with a rejuvenated Australia this Saturday evening.

A week after one Saint tasted last-minute victory over Georgia, a further pair were on the receiving end of a similarly dramatic finish in Rustavi as a Kahn Fotuali’i led Samoa conceded an added time penalty to slip to a 15-16 defeat. Ken Pisi was also involved.

The international weekend ended for the Saints contingent on Saturday afternoon with a face-off between a duo from the Gardens representing Russia and USA in their Test meeting at Allianz Park.

And it would be Samu Manoa and the Eagles who’d claim bragging rights with an impressive 28-7 beating of a Bears side including Vasily Artemyev – the big second row one of three USA try scorers on the afternoon. It was Manoa’s first international try as the autumn ended with back-to-back wins for the States.
