Myler looking forward to showing his ability

The Aviva Premiership’s most accurate marksman, who won a first England cap on last summer’s tour to Argentina, has been named in a 35-man Six Nations training squad by Stuart Lancaster, along with his fellow Saints Luther Burrell, Lee Dickson, Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes and Tom Wood.

Alex Corbisiero and Ben Foden were named in the formal Elite Player Squad, but with both currently ruled out by injury they have been left out of the Six Nations squad.

“I’ve worked hard all season, we’ve been going well as a team and I think I’ve been contributing to that,” Myler said. “Hopefully I can show the coaches what I can do and help out in any way that I can.

“I’m looking forward to doing what I can control, and that’s training as well as I can. We’ve got two massive games at the Saints before that, and hopefully I’ll be fit and well to go and show the coaches what I can do.”

Meanwhile there has been a first call-up to the England Saxons for number eight Sam Dickinson, who joins his fellow back rower Calum Clark in the 32-man squad. A full training squad for the games against the Irish Wolfhounds and Scotland ‘A’ will be announced on Friday, January 17th.

You can hear the full interview with Stephen Myler in this week’s official Saints podcast, which will be available for free on SoundCloud on Friday afternoon.
