Northampton Saints dedicates Round 17 to players’ Mental Health

Round 17 is dedicated to Restart and we’re getting behind them to raise awareness and funds to support our players’ mental health.

Restart is a charity that supports current and former players facing serious injury, illness or hardship. During Round 17, we want to raise as much as we can across the Gallagher Premiership for Restart’s Confidential Counselling Service which helps players struggling with their mental health.

“Some people might question why there is a charity dedicated to supporting professional rugby players,” said Tom Wood, Restart Weekend Ambassador.

“When the worst injuries happen like my teammate Rob Horne suffered, which was not only career ending but life changing, it’s Restart that pick up the pieces.”

“Thankfully those kinds of injuries are rare but the emotional impact that all levels of injuries have on players can be challenging. We’re fortunate to have Restart to be there for us should we be struggling to overcome those emotional hurdles through their 24/7 counselling service.

“So let’s raise as much as we can this weekend to make sure their mental health support continues for those that need it!”
