Saints back George Pisi says that the squad are really excitied to get the season underway when Bath travel to Franklin’s Gardens for Round 1 of the Aviva Premiership.

Speaking to SaintsTV, Pisi said: “It’s exciting, we can’t wait; let’s get this started!

“We want to start this season off with a bang and forget about last season. This is a new team and a new season and we’re just going to take each game one at a time.

“In front of our fans, we want to start the season off with a bang and we just can’t wait for this weekend.”

Pisi also said that although pre-season was tough, it had been productive. He went on to say that if his side can implement what they have been working on over the summer, he is confident of a good performance at the weekend.

“It’s not been as disruptive as last season was with the World Cup. We’ve had a good pre-season and it’s therefore about fine-tuning things. If we can bring it this week and show the things that we’ve been working on then it will be good.”

Looking ahead to the visit of Bath on Saturday, Pisi said: “They’ve got good signings like Toby Faletau and Kahn Fotuali’i, of course, and they’re going to be a real attacking team.

“With Todd Blackadder coming in you know they’re going to use the ball and they’ve got the players to play. It’s going to be a bit unpredictable but we know they’re going to play the game, play with the ball and we’ve just got to defend well and use our game plan.

“We’re excited for it and hopefully it’s going to be a dry pitch so we can play some good rugby.”
