Dickson grabbed the bonus point score in the second half, while Dickinson dominated the statistics in another barnstorming Franklin's Gardens outing which saw the number eight head home with a second man-of-the-match award in successive home matches.

"Sam is like a new signing for us," Mallinder said. "He didn't play for us last year, only playing a few times for Moseley and a couple of times for the Wanderers. He's come from Caldy, went to Rotherham and we picked him up from there. He's shown that he can play at Premiership standard, if not higher.

"Meanwhile you get a massive amount of energy from Lee. It's magnified in terms of how the rest of the players play, and he was the heart and soul of our performance today."

The Saints hit the road once again for the next fortnight before returning back to the Gardens for two massive matches, against the Ospreys in the Heineken Cup on Sunday, October 20th and Saracens in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday, October 26th.
