Northampton Saints U18s Head Coach Charlie Reed has named his squad to face Bath this Saturday (22 August, kick-off: 1pm) at Chippenham Rugby Club in Round 3 of the Defender PREM Next Gen Academy League.
Saints head into their second match of the Next Gen Academy league following a positive opening fixture after beating Gloucester 50-39 last Friday. A first-half brace from Finn Westley, as well as tries from Fin Shields and Charlie King, saw Saints take a narrow 31-29 lead into the break.
Three more tries in the second period, including another from Westley and one from Shields, as well as one from Howie Barnett-Vincent, saw Saints take home the victory in their opening fixture of the league.
Saturday’s opponents, who were edged in a 12-try thriller against Bristol Bears in last year’s Next Gen Academy League final, have started this year with two wins in the opening rounds of the league, presenting Reed’s side with a strong test on Saturday.
On the fixture, Reed said: “Bath this Saturday is never an easy away trip, the main thing I want to see from the boys is them working hard and replicating what we do on the training pitch.
“Nothing will change; this week has been focused on us, how we can improve, and what comes of that.”
