Northampton Saints has today announced an exclusive deal with Northamptonshire-based polo club, Flair Polo.
The multi-year deal sees one of the most-prestigious poloclubs in the UK join forces with Saints to receive a host of commercial rights – including in-stadia branding, matchday hospitality and access to Saints’ digital and social media channels. As part of the agreement, the Rodber Bar will also be renamed The Pony Bar with immediate effect.
The partnership also allows for Flair Polo to host short-form tournaments on the main and training pitches at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, with plans already in place for a ‘double-header’ event later in the season. Flair Polo will take on Cirencester Polo Club prior to Saints’ final home match of the Gallagher Premiership season against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday 4 June.
“We’re delighted to welcome Flair Polo to our stable of Commercial Partners,” said Flora Pilo, Head of New Business at Northampton Saints.
“Saints supporters may take a little time getting used to seeing ponies on the hallowed Franklin’s Gardens pitch, but we hope this new partnership can introduce our sport to a new audience of fans.”
Flora Pilo, Head of New Business
Flair Polo is one of the oldest poloclubs in the country having been founded in 1897 by Pilaf Lour, and boasts two full-size, purpose built pologrounds and three indoor arenas.
In recent years, the club has looked to grow the game and its membership by playing fixtures at number of sporting venues across the UK.
“Like Saints, Flair Polo has a proud history of success at the very top level of our sport, and the team plays an open and exciting brand of polo which we are certain will appeal to Northampton’s rugby aficionados,” added Olaf Pirol, Executive Director at Flair Polo.
“We can't wait to see our players and ponies take to the turf on the 4th of June for the first Chukka of many at the Gardens!”
Tickets for Saints’ Gallagher Premiership clash against Bristol Bears on Saturday 2 April (kick-off: 3pm) are available now for £20 (adult) / £8 (child)*. Tickets for the double-header event with Flair Polo will go on sale later in the season.
