Northampton Saints plc has today announced its results for the year ended 30th June 2020.
“Our annual report and accounts show that we are reporting an operating loss for the fourth year in succession,” said Saints Chief Executive, Mark Darbon. “However, without doubt, this has been one of the most challenging periods to navigate in the Club’s history.
“While we were on track to deliver outstanding results on and off the pitch following the first nine months of the 2019-20 financial year, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic during our final quarter was wide-ranging and unprecedented.
“We are confident that the actions taken by the business substantially mitigated the dramatic shortfall in turnover caused by the pandemic, but the situation has continued to be challenging in the period since our year end and the significant impact of Covid-19 is still being felt.
“Looking forward however, we are optimistic that despite the difficulties we face, the Club remains well set thanks to our strong balance sheet and dedicated group of supporters, partners, and shareholders.
“Everyone at the Club is firmly focused on bouncing back stronger as we come out the other side of the pandemic. We are confident that our robust strategy and our strong and dedicated team will ensure that is the case.
“In this context, we are excited about what the remainder of the current season holds in store, and we are counting down the days until our supporters can safely join us at Franklin’s Gardens once again to cheer on Northampton Saints on the field.”
