Northampton Saints will face Castres Olympique in the Investec Champions Cup Round of 16, after the competition’s Pool stages concluded today.
The men in Black, Green and Gold ran in six tries to claim their third win in Pool 4, defeating Scarlets 43-28 at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens to add to their victories over Section Paloise and Vodacom Bulls and seal second place in the Pool’s final standings.
And while Saints had already secured a place in the competition’s Round of 16 before Sunday’s match, Northampton’s bonus-point win means the next round will take place at cinch Stadium at Franklin‘s Gardens – with results elsewhere confirming that Castres will make their third trip to Northampton in 18 months on the weekend of 3/4/5 April.
Saints defeated Castres twice on home soil last term on their way to the Investec Champions Cup final, with the sides’ pool stage clash ending 38-8 in Northampton’s favour before Saints produced a 51-16 stunner in the quarter-final.
