Saints head to Exeter for penultimate Aviva Premiership round

After suffering three frustrating, last minute defeats in the last three rounds of the Aviva Premiership, Saints travel to Exeter Chiefs this Saturday for the penultimate round of this season’s league competition.

Exeter Chiefs have won their last six matches in the Aviva Premiership gaining a maximum 30 league points – no side has ever achieved seven maximum point wins in a row.

Chiefs most recent defeat in this season’s competition came when Bath visited Sandy Park in round 7, drawing twice at home in the mean time, but since then the Devon side have remained unbeaten in their last eight first team games at Sandy Park, since Bordeaux won there in the European Champions Cup back in December.

Saints most recent away win came in round 17 of the competition as they travelled to Sale Sharks, the away side collecting maximum points that day with a 32-12 win at the AJ Bell.

The last four fixtures between the two clubs have all been won by the home side on the day while Northampton’s most recent victory at Sandy Park was by the narrowest of margins in February 2014.
