Saints stars deliver Christmas hamper to competition winner

Ben Foden, Courtney Lawes and Luther Burrell usually spend their time dishing out big hits on the field at Franklin’s Gardens.

But on Friday, the Northampton Saints stars became delivery men of a different kind as they dropped off a Christmas hamper at the home of supporter Neil Kelly.

Neil was surprised by the three England internationals at his home in Upton after correctly answering a Christmas quiz question and winning the club’s online ‘Xmas Dinner’ competition.

The goods – worth over £500 – were supplied by Smiths Farm Shop in Chapel Brampton and by Carlsberg UK.

And Neil received everything he will need to make the perfect Christmas dinner and all the trimmings – including a free-range 12-person turkey, vegetables, chocolates and drinks.

Foden, Burrell and Lawes also threw in some goods from the Saints shop for good measure, and delivered the prize right to Neil’s kitchen table just in time for the Christmas weekend.

We captured the moment live, see the players’ unpacking skills here…

Tickets are still available for the Gloucester match at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday 6th January, starting from £28 (adults) and £12 (juniors). Visit  to book online or call the Saints Ticket Office on 01604 581000.
