Earlier this month over 1,000 youngsters has the opportunity to try out 60 different ‘give it a go’ activities from a broad range of trades and careers advisors that were spread across a number of different suites, meeting rooms and in the Matchday Village.
Activities were provided by local colleges and employers including Northampton College, Tresham College, Moulton College, Daventry UTC, XPO Logistics, Church & Co, Nationwide, Royal Air Force, Nital, Greencore Group and others.
These included a Pit Stop Challenge, a Crime Scene Investigation, photography workshops, and hands-on experience of carpentry, engineering, floristry, music, DNA testing, animation, logistics, electronics, animal care, sports, fashion, plumbing and stonemasonry.
In addition to providing the right space and support for these activities, Franklin’s Gardens was also able to accommodate all of the vehicles needed by the exhibitors and attendees alike, not to mention the space needed for the youngsters to relax on a hot day.
All in all it was “a fantastic event,” according to Jenny Lal, Choices Advisor from Skills Show organisers, Horizons, who added that “the atmosphere was buzzing as students from across the county discovered and tried different skills.”
Other major companies to have recently held events at Franklin’s Gardens include Travis Perkins, Carlsberg UK, Capita, Primark, Crockett and Jones and Avon.
