Sleightholme and England on track for a Commonwealth medal

With Saints' Academy winger Ollie Sleightholme in tow, Team England finished day one of the Commonwealth Youth Games with two wins and a loss to sit in second place overall in the competition standings ahead of the final pool games today.

Although England fell in their first game to Samoa, they rallied in the afternoon to beat Canada 26-10, before recording an impressive 72-0 victory over hosts Bahamas at the Queen Elizabeth Sporting Complex.

Day two will dictate medal contenders, as England take on Sri Lanka and Fiji, in a bid to cement first or second place. If they are successful in doing so, they will make the gold medal match, to be played on Friday, 21 July.

Finishing third or fourth overall would see England contest the bronze medal.
