Thousands throng Weedon Road to see Olympic Torch Relay

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Thousands crowded Weedon Road to watch the Olympic flame be carried towards Northampton town centre, with Franklin's Gardens providing both the car parking space for 40 coaches packed with excited schoolchildren and the perfect room in which the chosen bearers to be fully briefed on how to carry the torch and transfer the flame successfully.

Fourteen-year-old Kayleigh-Jayne Brewer had the honour of carrying the Olympic flame past the home of the Saints, but the club's cuddly mascot Bernie also had a starring role, warming the crowd up before the Torch Relay passed through.

If you watched the Torch Relay pass through Rugby, Northampton, Wellingborough, Isham, Kettering, Geddington or Corby today then send us your pictures!

You can see a selection of pictures from the morning on the Saints' official Facebook page.
