Three Saints called up to England A squad ahead of New Zealand XV clash

Three Northampton Saints players have been named in the England Men’s A matchweek squad ahead of their match against All Blacks XV this weekend.

Emmanuel Iyogun, Tom Pearson and Archie McParland have all been included in the 30-player group preparing for the fixture at the Recreation Ground, Bath, on Saturday 8 November (kick-off: 1.15pm).

Pearson is one of only seven previously-capped senior players in Mark Mapletoft’s set-up, along with Charlie Atkinson, Jamie Blamire, Ollie Hassell-Collins, Max Ojomoh, Ethan Roots and Adam Radwan.

The England A announcement takes the number of Saints players away on England duty this week to ten, following Tom Lockett’s call-up to the senior squad to join six of his Northampton teammates preparing to take on Fiji this weekend.

England Men’s A Head Coach and Head of Men’s Player Pathways, Mark Mapletoft, will be supported by Saints’ James Craig (Forwards Coach) as well as James Lightfoot Brown (Attack Coach), Adam Powell (Defence Coach), and Matt Ferguson (Scrum Coach) in his coaching staff. The coaching group will work alongside key pathway and PREM Rugby Strength & Conditioning, Medical and Operational staff for the game.

England Men’s A versus All Blacks XV will be broadcast live on Premier Sports 1, with coverage starting at 1.10pm.

“We have assembled a dynamic young group of players aiming to excel whilst wearing the rose. I’d like to congratulate all selected players and staff involved,” said Mapletoft.

“Ten players that represented the England A side last season progressed to make their senior debuts – these fixtures matter for the future of English Rugby.

“As evidenced in this week’s squad announcements, our connection from the age-grade and senior set-up is stronger than ever and we’re determined to continue that work over the forthcoming weeks.”

A limited number of tickets are still available to purchase for the All Blacks XV match via this link, with adult tickets starting from £25 and kids (U16) from £15. Booking fees apply.
