A Northampton Saints XV will lock horns with the British Army in April 2022, as one of the most historic fixtures in rugby returns to cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.
Since its creation in 1921, the Mobbs Memorial Match is a game that honours Edgar Mobbs – both a Saints legend and World Rugby Hall-of-Fame inductee, as well as a World War One hero.
Contested between the East Midlands and the Barbarians until 2011, Northampton has played host for the fixture every other year since 2012 when it was re-launched, with Bedford Blues also going toe-to-toe with the British Army on a biennial basis.
After taking a two-year hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s fixture will see a Northampton Saints XV welcoming the Army on the hallowed turf at the Gardens on Wednesday 13 April, 2022 (kick-off: 7.30pm).
And Head Coach of the Army Senior Men's team, Mal Roberts, said: “The Mobbs Memorial Match has a special meaning for Army Rugby, and I'm delighted to see the ticket information being announced for this year's match.
“With this year's match falling right between our two Inter-Services Championship games it will play an important role in helping us continue momentum in a busy period and I'm looking forward to taking the squad back to cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens, which is always a great place to play.”
Tickets are available now for £10 adults / £5 juniors, concessions, former players and past/present members of the British Armed Forces*.
Proceeds from the match will once again support the charitable aims of the Mobbs Memorial Fund, which promotes the development of youth rugby in the East Midlands.
